New Beaver Colony Opens
More young people from Paddock Wood and the surrounding area can now enjoy the everyday adventure of Scouting thanks to volunteers opening a new Beaver Colony. Ten beavers were invested into the new ‘Chigwa’ Beaver Colony on Friday 9th February 2018 .
Both boys and girls between the ages of 6 to 8 years can become Beavers.
The Beaver motto is ‘Fun and Friends’ and our Beavers undertake a wide variety of activities, enjoying all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative, explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout Sleepover with their friends.
Participation, rather than meeting set standards, is the key approach, and there are a range of badges and challenge awards that Beaver Scouts can gain to recognise their achievements.
Scouting is growing in popularity amongst young people, every year over 450,000 young people in the UK enjoy new adventures; experience the outdoors; interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Working alongside our youth members are thousands of adult volunteers, with a huge variety of roles and opportunities available.
Paddock Wood Scouts are growing, the group won an award in 2017 for growth, and thanks to our new Beavers we’re off to a good start in 2018! We also have another Beaver Colony, two Cub Packs (for ages 8 to 10 ½), a Scout Troop (for ages 10 ½ to 14) and an Explorer Scout Unit (for ages 14 to 18). All sections are fully co-educational.
We still have a waiting list and would welcome more adult volunteers
